Dinks

The Dinks were a tribe of six little people (Rinky, Blinky, Stinky, Pinky, Finky, and Winky[1]) on the Moon of Vega and worked for Yogurt. Their language consisted only of the word, "Dink", and they would sing "The Dink March" as they walked in the desert.

While marching, the Dinks found Lone Starr, Princess Vespa, Barf, and Dot Matrix unconscious from the heat. The Dinks replenished the group, then led them to Yogurt's lair. The Dinks and Yogurt shilled some Spaceballs merchandise, then let the crew spend the night with them. When Dark Helmet kidnapped Vespa and Dot, the Dinks woke Lone Starr and Barf to alert them. They accompanied Yogurt as he bid farewell to Lone Starr and Barf, at least until Spaceballs 2: The Search For More Money.[2]

Trivia[]

  • They are parodies of the Jawas from Star Wars.
  • "The Dink March" is sang to the tune of the "Colonel Bogey March" in reference to the film The Bridge on the River Kwai.
  • The Dinks are frequently seen throughout Spaceballs: The Animated Series being comically killed by Lone Starr.
  • Their costumes and height make them bear slight resemblance to the Seven Dwarfs from Snow White, as noted when Lone Starr asks, "When did we get to Disneyland?"
  • The Spaceballs Collector's Edition DVD includes an option in the Languages menu to watch the movie in Dinkese. Selecting it brings up a message explaining that the Dinks tried to dub the movie in their own language, but went on strike before they could finish. Consequently, only one scene exists, which features Dark Helmet and Colonel Sandurz exasperated over the Eagle 5 escaping their grasp.
